Power BI Developer, Sydney, Ongoing

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Power BI Developer will be working as part of the BW BI Analytics team for the delivery of the cluster-wide reporting solution. This role will help the team conduct regular Power BI support activities and governance operations and assist in developing, testing, identifying and fixing issues in Power BI reports.

This role is an exciting opportunity to work with the broader Corporate Services, team with a strong focus on Finance & HR Reporting within DCS to enable innovation in Government services. We enable agencies to deliver personalised digital experiences to NSW and this role will be pivotal in achieving this!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support the existing Power BI infrastructure, health check, troubleshoot issues.
• Conduct weekly and monthly support activities, data refresh, reconcile, debug the Power BI reports.
• Develop, test, deploy Power BI dataflows, datasets and reports.
• Work closely with other developers and test engineers to assist in data analysis, data integration and validation.
• Maintain solution documentation and technical design documents for Power BI reports.

KEY CHALLENGES

• Ensuring that the emerging issues are identified, registered and resolved on time without compromising support activities deadlines.
• Maintaining technical competence and expertise in Power BI development methodologies, data integration and data modelling in the enterprise multisystem environment.
• Delivering results within a short time frame to help the business make better decisions in the early stages.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

• 2+ years of Power BI development experience.
• Good knowledge of Power M Query, DAX.
• Experience in developing Power BI dataflows, datasets and reports, scheduling data refresh, etc.
• Experience in managing Power BI workspaces and apps.
• Experience in UX design, working with colour themes in Power BI.
• Experience in requirement analysis and documentation.
• Experience in Agile methodology.

DESIRABLE:

• Experience in enterprise BI solution development.
• Experience in the traditional MS BI stack (SSIS, SSRS and SSAS).
• Microsoft BI Certification.
• Experience sourcing data from various sources (SAP BW4HANA, SQL database, AWS etc).
• Experience in NSW government agencies.

Salary Grade 7/8, with the base salary for this role starting at $99,431 base plus superannuation
