Job Description

Purpose of Position: Under immediate supervision, performs work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility in the field of institutional housekeeping, food preparation and service in the Department of Health, Department of Social Services and also in the Health and Hospitals Corporation.

Performs related work.

When assigned to the Health and Hospitals Corporation, also:
1. Cleans unsterile trays and equipment. 2. Fills ice compartment of oxygen equipment and obtains oxygen tanks when required. 3. Distributes clean sputum cups, containers and paper bags for waste to patients. 4. Collects and disposes of cups and waste, cleans and sterilizes metal containers, sputum disposal room and equipment. 5. Handles and disposes of sputum specimen containers. 6. May perform auxiliary services in hospital laboratories, pharmacies and other specialized areas in the field of hospital operation and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to read and write English and to understand and carry out simple instructions.
