Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director, FACES.
The Director, FACES will report to the Director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and oversee all operations of FACES (Finding a Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures). The Director will develop strategic plans for programs, education, and public relations. The Director will also oversee a $2 million programmatic annual operating budget and manage all staffing needs. The Director will collaborate with the development department regarding individual giving, event planning and corporate and foundations approaches/solicitations.
Job Responsibilities:
Supervise a staff of two or more and effectively manage individual performance to ensure that goals are met or exceeded. Train and coach the team giving direction and ongoing feedback and conducting regular performance evaluation discussions.
Manage and support FACES Board of Directors, including organization of meetings, communication with board members and the management of a major annual gala.
Event Management – Work collaboratively with the Board and NYU Langone Office of Development and Alumni Affairs on an annual gala for 700+ guests.
Oversee and manage $2 million annual budget.
Develop a strategic plan for steering committee (30-40 members). Run meetings, develop agenda, craft communications, and identify and cultivate potential new members.
Community Engagement & Education – Oversee 2-3 annual events for families (children, teens, young professionals, and parents). Develop content and oversee one-day conference for 300+ attendees. Oversee 4-5 evening lectures. Oversee all logistics and marketing plans.
Manage educational presentations and seminars on epilepsy for school teachers, students and police officers.
Serve in a consultative role in assisting NYU Langone Office of Development and Alumni Affairs team in the preparation of proposals for prospects and donors. Work with Directors, physicians, and administrators of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center to identify prospects with wealth capacity.
Provide critical information to support the development team in capturing all development activity related to gift solicitations and donor and prospect stewardship and general information in the donor/prospect database.
Work with pharmaceutical companies and corporations to solicit financial contributions and educational grants.
Communications – Oversee bi-annual production and execution of 12-16-page newsletter (circulation 13,000). Develop content and design for the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center Resources for Patients & Families website. Oversee production and craft content for publications and brochures.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a College degree.
Minimum of 5+ years non-profit operational experience as well as program planning, educational outreach and public speaking background.
Demonstrated success working and leading teams is required.
Experience working with volunteers is essential.
Excellent writing and communication skills, tact, sensitivity and mature judgment are required.
Self-motivated, outgoing and results oriented.
Knowledge of software applications, including MS Word and Excel.
Development database experience.
This position requires evening, weekend work, and travel as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Management, Public Administration, Health Administration or another related field.
On-line database and Adobe PageMaker knowledge a plus
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
