At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

The Office of the Deputy Secretary, Te Puna Rangatōpū provides high-quality strategic and operational advice to the Hautū – Deputy Secretary, enabling the successful operation of the group, and the provision of effective and aligned corporate services to the organisation.

Reporting to the Director of the Office, the Advisor will work as part of a team providing high quality and aligned advice to the Deputy Secretary. You’ll be energised and challenged by a role that is varied and busy, working with a supportive and friendly team.

You will operate effectively as part of the Office team to assess information and develop high quality information and advice. You will support the Principal and Senior Advisors to provide insights across work and will actively look for connections across the work of the team.

The Advisor will:

• Work proactively across Te Puna Rangatopu and develop networks at all levels to support the successful completion of the role.
• Be responsible for contributing and providing advice and information to the Hautū and Director of the Office on the range of priorities, services and issues that the group is responsible for.
• Work collaboratively as part of the Office team to advance the work programme of the office, coordinate and provide high quality information and advice and to commission and track work when required.

You will bring the experience, skills and ability to:

• Be genuinely curious about the information available and the work of Te Puna Rangatōpū
• Work as part of the Office to provide excellent service to the Deputy Secretary, and be a supportive and enabling team member
• Coordinate and collate a wide range of information and insights to deliver high quality work for the Office, including working across the group to commission and track that information
• Analyse information to identify opportunities and emerging issues and risks
• Develop and maintain proactive working relationships at all levels across the Group to inform and support your advice and the effective operation of Te Puna Rangatōpū
• The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
