At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

The role provides full executive management support to the Deputy Secretary – Education Workforce including diary and workflow management, advice, and administrative and planning support. As part of the Education Workforce team, you will join a group of highly capable and supportive colleagues who are actively contributing to the future of tamariki throughout New Zealand.

Mōhou ake | About you

You will have proven significant experience relative to the role and have a professional attitude. You will be an experienced, confident, and competent Executive Assistant who knows what it takes to support a Senior Leader.

You will have experience with diary and email management, travel bookings and logistics management. You will also have experience analysing and disseminating information to others, preparing papers for the Deputy Secretary and working with others to assist in managing work required by the Deputy Secretary and their leadership team.

You will also offer:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills for all audiences
• Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, specifically in-depth knowledge using Outlook and the ability to triage emails
• The ability to prioritise and manage several competing tasks
• Attention to detail and excellent time management and organisational skills
• Resilience to deal with pressure in a professional manner
• Ability to deal with ambiguity and maintain resilience in a constantly changing environment.
• The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Knowledge of and experience of the Machinery of Government and/or public sector.
