Octana Looking for Digital Product Designer at Queenstown, Otago, New Zealand Full Time

Responsible for the digital product design of Octana and help create and maintain valuable tools that meet the wants and needs of customers.

As a Digital Product Designer, you play a critical role in creating the designs of our digital products, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and owning the development of our design system and UI Kit.

Practical Activities:

• Contribute to the design process for our digital products, from ideation to final delivery.
• Work closely with the Chief Product Officer, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure design solutions meet business objectives and user needs.
• Analyse how Octana products tie in with market needs and customer preferences to ensure product design decisions are fact and data-based.
• Develop and maintain a token-based design system and UI kit that supports scalability, consistency, and accessibility across all our products.
• Continue to follow the Octana DesignOps processes and recommend improvements.
• Conduct user research and gather feedback to inform design decisions.
• Produce detailed wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups to communicate design concepts.
• Create effective handover materials which clearly communicate how the design should look and behave throughout interaction flows and journeys (e.g. User flow diagrams, design specifications, experience/interaction specifications etc)
• Conduct usability testing and iterate on designs based on user feedback.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and design best practices.
• Contribute to content targeted at the design community.

Requirements

• Between 2-4 years of experience in digital product design, with a strong portfolio that showcases your design process and outcomes.
• Strong understanding of Figma.
• Strong understanding or interest in the concept of design tokens and token-based design.
• Strong understanding of human-centred design principles, design systems, and interaction design.
• Experience or interest in conducting user research and usability testing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• You will be able to clearly and concisely present your ideas, rationale and how you came to your conclusions and designs.
• Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
• End-to-end digital product design experience: You’ve designed and shipped multiple products or features across various platforms.
• Experience with or strong interest in Content Management Systems and web design.
• Problem-first mindset: You’re obsessed with identifying gaps/opportunities and enjoy deeply investigating ambiguous problems
