Old Dominion Freight Line Hiring for Systems Engineer III at Wilmington, North Carolina Full Time

Plan and design the organization’s systems infrastructure, including the implementation and design of hardware and software. Analyze, develop, modify, test, and maintain systems. Verify and validate systems and meet internal and external requirements. A specialist that provides assistance to other Systems Engineers in the department.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, architect, and manage systems infrastructure that best supports business initiatives

• Monitor systems performance and recommend changes and upgrades based on utilization

• Coordinate maintenance and upgrades to the network and systems

• Collaborate with Technical Architects to design systems

• Assists administrators in the implementation of systems

• Handle escalated advanced troubleshooting issues

• Provide support and assistance to OD users for networking and systems needs

• Support server hardware infrastructure and hardware and software solutions on multiple hardware platforms

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and communicate complex enterprise systems issues

• Provide recommendations for improvement on existing and new systems

• Update system related installation documentation

• Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies/products/trends related to architectural solutions

• Provide guidance and assistance to less experience Engineers in the department

Job Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent education and experience

Experience:

• Minimum 7 years of experience with server technologies

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with target audience

• Reasoning, analytical, and troubleshooting skills

• Collaboration and teamwork skills

• Knowledge and hands on experience working in cloud services; Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, AWS

• Knowledge and hands on experience in storage architecture and virtualization

• Understanding of cross-functional/cross-domain requirements and impact

• Experience using Visio or other tools for documentation
