Job Description
This position will be responsible for serving as the Office Manager and Fiscal Technician for the Career and Advising Resource Center in the Darden College of Education and Professional Studies. Providing positive and responsive customer service to internal and external users that reflect Old Dominion University’s mission and values and complies with the University’s Code of Ethics and Services Standards. Maintains effective working relationships with colleagues through courteous, constructive and professional interaction. Listens to and anticipates customer needs, provides clear explanations; responds quickly; takes initiative to assist internal and external customers. Observes confidentiality.

Strong knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques. Working knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to produce documents, manipulate data and prepare reports using information systems and PC-related software (e.g., MS Office. Demonstrated ability to lead and direct the work of others. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and work independently. Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple deadlines. Ability to work with diverse clients and respond to their needs while maintaining confidentiality where appropriate. Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of others.

Level and type of experience
Basic experience providing budget management and administrative support.
Some experience working in a professional office setting with diverse clients.
Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification
Associate’s Degree preferred. Considerable experience of working in a higher education setting. Some experience working with faculty and administrators in a college or academic department and academic undergraduate and graduate programs strongly preferred. Some experience working with researching student registration problems and resolution. Working knowledge of and ability to work with Banner Information System (student and finance packages). Working knowledge of University and Commonwealth budgeting, expenditure, and purchasing guidelines and regulations. Working knowledge of employing students (i.e., graduate and undergraduate) and some experience with supervising their work in a university setting.
Conditions of Employment
Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. It is possible this position will need to be available 9:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Thursday depending on needs of office.
Annual Salary/Hourly Rate Salary range between $ – 28,354 – 39,900
