JOB SUMMARY

The business intelligence team delivers data and reporting solutions to empower data driven decision making. This includes data engineering, self-service BI, and enterprise reporting. To provide these services we also configure and administer the associated software and environments.

Job Profile Summary

Participate, with general supervision, in all aspects of the data delivery lifecycle for data engineering and reporting applications, including gathering requirements, development, testing, deployment and maintenance activities. In addition, this role will configure, deploy, and upgrade associated software as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Works independently with general supervision to design, develop, test, deploy and maintain data and reporting solutions as prioritized by the business including creating and updating system documentation and training materials

Design, development, testing, maintenance and documentation of reliable and scalable solutions, as prioritized by the business, according to facts, policies and practices that will support user requirements

Participate in projects and processes through entire system development life cycle

Gather and document business requirements from users to determine the capabilities that need to be delivered. Consult with the users on the priorities, complexities and other impacts of the requirements

Coordinate and communicate development activities with other team members, infrastructure personnel, vendors and management

Follow defined change control and compliance procedures associated with software development, including all required documentation and governance standards

Deploy existing solutions in other business areas

Interact with business users via consulting and training to ensure effective use of solutions

Collaborate with key process owners on the documentation of difficult, but typically not complex application defects, enhancements and/or projects

Works with vendors on upgrades and production support issues

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, computer science, mathematics, other related field, or an equivalent combination of formal education and the following job related experience to include:

Required Work Experience

Intermediate skill level in SQL

Experience with database management systems

Experience writing calculated expressions in reports

Experience troubleshooting problems

Experience providing reporting solutions in Spotfire (preferred), or another BI tool

Experience joining, reshaping data in an efficient, supportable way

Experience with software development lifecycle methodology and basic project management concepts

Experience with basic technology infrastructure concepts

Preferred Work Experience

Experience installing and configuring software in Windows

Experience automating installation and configuration processes

Experience working APIs, authentication (OAuth2 especially) and processing JSON

Experience automating testing of software upgrades

Familiarity with common ETL patterns

Expected Salary Range

$74,000.00 – $110,000.00
