About the role

The Senior Software Developer for, 5G Cloud Edge is part of the Product Engineering team that is responsible for delivering Optus Business Products and Automation roadmap, to be executed across Singtel and Optus Business in order to mobilize behind the emerging enterprise market.

This is a senior role interfacing with customers to drive POCS and Solution’s anchored on 5G, Cloud and Edge technologies. The role will also be accountable for the customer use cases, feeding those use cases back to the product management team, and will also be responsible for the technical architecture and hands on to develop the actual customer outcome, the roles will also work closely with the Senior Product Architect in leading design and architecture and or work allocation when necessary, as well as hands co-development.

It will also require you to work autonomously, to think outside the box and come up with ideas and continues improvements in the way the teamwork. It also requires strong planning skills, the ability to create and execute strategy, and problem solving for services development to build and drive a cross organizational delivery teams to deliver results.

Responsibilities:

• Understand the architecture and design of the 5G business services platform to the extent of being able to install and deploy the platform for enterprise customer trial engagements.
• Design solution architectures for 5G apps and facilitate trial deployments of the 5G apps on the business services platform
• Co-develop 5G applications with enterprise customers and partners and facilitate customer POCS/trials/experiments and internal R&D trials/experiments.
• Working closely with the Product Architect and wider product engineering team for the build out of the the 5G platform and customer use cases. This will require at times to be a technical lead and allocate work whilst been hands on yourself.
• Participate and advise on common platform functionality, and consistent, best-practice application design.
• Participate on the move to full SaaS deployment and management
• Contribute technical and thought leadership to the SingTel’s/Optus 5G platform initiative, and how to leverage IoT and big data management, Security/privacy, AI/ML components into the platform architecture.
• Evangelize the platform for use by other business units within SingTel/Optus and group companies, and lead the solution design for these applications to effectively use the platform.
• Interact with implementation partners and customers to understand their needs, and feed this back to the development teams and roadmap.
• Participate in technical partnership conversations and due diligence.
• Participate and lead in technical evaluations of partner technology with a handson approach.

Experience Required:

• Programming in Java (J2EE and J2SE 1.8 or higher)

• Additional knowledge on Python or Scala, or other programming languages would be preferable
• Experience in Docker, Jenkins
• Experience architecting, designing, and developing complex, enterprise grade, configurable, scalable software products.
• A background in systems level thinking and design. Combined with the ability to translate technical strategy and architectures into concrete, minimal viable products, with the right trade-offs and phasing.
• Broad and deep knowledge of relevant technologies, including messaging, relational and NoSQL databases, data modelling, analytics, IoT, and interfaces. Exposure and experience with Artificial intelligence will be a plus.
• Deep understanding of the architectural principles for cloud-based platforms that include SaaS, PaaS, multi-tenancy, infrastructure as code, and continuous availability.
• Experience working in an agile environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across various cross-functional teams and groups.
