Oritain Looking for Laboratory Technician – Instruments at Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand Full Time

We are an innovative data company with a strong & growing global presence and a passion for creating a positive impact. Due to significant growth in our business, we are seeking a Laboratory Technician – Instruments to join our team in Dunedin.

About the role:

In this role, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of scientific instruments in our laboratory. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team of scientists to support analytical testing and data generation. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our scientific traceability efforts and play a crucial role in our mission to enhance supply chain integrity. This is a permanent Friday to Tuesday role, working 130pm-10pm daily.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain scientific instruments in a busy laboratory
• Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment & instrumentation
• Undertake or allocate unprogrammed repairs on laboratory equipment
• Maintain the Computerised Maintenance Management System
• Contribute to production analytical work as required (estimate 0.4 FTE)
• Follow established laboratory protocols and procedures for sample preparation and analysis
• Assist in the development and validation of analytical methods
• Collaborate with scientists and other team members to support data generation and analysis
• Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards

Requirements

About you:

• Degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent experience is desirable, but not essential
• Must have prior experience in operating and maintaining scientific instruments, preferably in a laboratory setting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
• Good organisational and time-management skills
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, and support/train other team members as required
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience with data analysis software is a plus
• Understanding of quality control and safety protocols in a laboratory setting
