Part Time, Fixed Term – Professional Ser
This is a part time 0.5FTE, 18 month, fixed term contract.
We are looking to appoint a research assistant to work within the Oxford Centre for Academic Enhancement and Development (OCAED). OCAED contributes to research projects investigating student experiences, evaluating teaching innovations and assessing the impact of academic development initiatives. Our current areas of interest include curriculum design, student voice, assessment and feedback, inclusivity and digital literacy.
You will assist our educational developers with a range of pedagogic research projects and activities designed to improve the student experience of learning at Oxford Brookes. You will support on-going work by the OCAED, and others across the University, who are leading and developing institutional projects on improving student learning as part of the Oxford Brookes’ Strategy for the Enhancement of the Student Experience. You will join a Centre that makes a commitment to making use of our internationally recognised in-house expertise in educational development to routinely carry out impact assessments and reviews of all significant academic development initiatives.
The OCAED’s offices are based on the Wheatley campus however flexible working practices are supported and encouraged.
You will be responsible for:
- conducting literature searches and reviews of evidence on aspects of student experience, teaching practice and academic development
- collecting and analysing a variety of qualitative and quantitative data types
- advising on possible research methods and evaluation routines for projects
- disseminating the approaches and outcomes of key research projects both within Brookes and more widely
- contributing to staff development for pedagogic researchers, including training and mentoring others involved in pedagogic research methods
You should have:
- a postgraduate qualification in a related area
- experience of using specialist data analysis tools
- expertise in designing new questionnaires
- the ability to work independently and concurrently on a range of different projects
- a proven track record of academic publishing and/or supporting others with pedagogic research
