GS-05/06 The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Human Resources Assistant (Military) in a developmental capacity, performing assignments designed to further deveop applicable basic and standard skills and techniques. (Continued below in Duties Section) Responsibilities (Continued from Summary) GS-07 The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Human Resources Assistant(Military) with responsibility for assisting to perform duties in a full range of programs that impact each military member’s career including but not limited to: accessions, appointments, assignments, promotions, performance evaluations, strength accounting, retirements, awards, decorations and all related advisory services for assigned organizations. Duties GS-05 Performs developmental work assignments Performs recurring work assignments Participates in special studies and projects Prepares written correspondence and other documentation GS-06/07 Serves as Military Personnelist within the Military Personnel Flight (MPF) supporting the mission Serves as a technical authority for the installation on all elements of active duty military personnel specialties assigned to the Customer Support, Force Management and Career Developments elements of MPF Performs updates, inquires, and process actions through military personnel data systems Reviews products to identify and correct mismatched data in system and to ensure projections and confirmations have consummated and required actions have been taken Serves as support for Personnel Contingency Operations (PERSCO), with an emphasis on deployment and reception of forces, casualty assistance, disaster response, and strength and accountability Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, 0203 Series. GS-05 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of the basic principles, concepts, and methodology used in the Human Resources Specialist (Military) field. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of basic principles of Human Resources Specaialist (Military) or related field. Skill in communicating factual and procedural information clearly, orally and in writing. Ability to learn basic techniques in the Human Resources Specialist (Military) field. Ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions. Ability to plan and organize work, and consult effectively with co-workers. GS-06 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes basic knowledge and skills to apply standardized body of personnel rules, regulations, procedures and precedents to mission requirements. Knowledge of codding for personnel records using the automated personnel system. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of one year of graduate level education that is directly related to the work of this position. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work and must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time–in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-06 level. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
