Painter Full Time

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Erecting scaffolding and ladders, and placing drop sheets to protect adjacent areas from paint splattering
• Preparing surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper, fixing woodwork, filling holes and cracks, and smoothing and sealing surfaces
• Selecting and preparing paints to required colours by mixing portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying additives
• Applying paints, varnishes and stains to surfaces using brushes, rollers and sprays
• Hanging wallpaper, matching patterns and trimming edges
• Cleaning equipment and work areas
• May repair windows and replace glass in wooden and metal frames
• May lay and repair wall and floor tiles
• Read blueprints/instructions and examine surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary.
• Make on-site preparations such as erecting of mobile scaffolding, covering of all fixtures etc.
• Preparation of all surfaces prior to painting using both hand and machine technics
• Support other team members to ensure to ensure completion of projects on time and according to specifications.
• Understand and comply with industry safety and environmental policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Minimum qualification required is AQF certificate III including at least 2 years of on-the-job training, or AQF certificate IV. Mandatory 2 years of relevant work experience is required. In absence of qualification, 3 years of relevant experience is required.

• Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks under a variety of conditions
• Ability to work occasional weekends and overtime
• Ability to work in all weather and temperature conditions
• Valid drivers license and own transport
• Ability to work unsupervised
