Kiln Technician

• Scope of Job: Kiln Technician will ensure the quality of brick is acceptable in accordance with PBC standards. These responsibilities will include the following but not limited to theses alone.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance at plant 1 & 3.
• Ensure they follow policies and procedures and reporting to Production Manager when there is an issue.
• Monitoring the scrubber at Plant 1 and 3 to ensure waste lime is emptied on a regular schedule.
• Write and load firing curves for the kilns, making sure that any additional information that needs to be included with the change over is added for the kiln operator. Checking the curve temperatures with the excel spread sheet that list the zone temperatures based on the cars per day and the temperature the brick should be fired to.

• Speeding up the kiln or slowing down, planning for future changes making sure cars with shapes or solids are in the correct placement of the run so they are not affected by the changeover.

• Daily checking the kiln, dryers, warm-ups, transfer cars, and kiln cars at both plants making sure that work orders are turned in on any issues found.

• Communicate with Kiln operators to identify issues and send in work order on items that need to be corrected.

• Daily checking samples at plant 1 and 3 to make sure there are no issues with quality, and if so, report it to appropriate personnel.

• Ensure that Kiln operators complete all assigned shift duties.
• Check the cars being set at the setting machine to make sure ties are being made and netting is being applied between the appropriate layers. Check with the production lead person or operators with any issues that are identified.

• Ensuring safety is top priority at all times.

Physical Activities:
Must be able to lift up to 70lbs. Must be able to work in outdoor conditions. Must be able to climb stairs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 – $28.14 per hour
