Sanitation Lead
Under the direction of the Manager/ Supervisor, the lead directly supervises and works with the Sanitation Associates and Custodians. Is involved in the cleaning and sanitizing of the production processing equipment and the facility.
Position Responsibilities
Oversee timely and effective dismantling, cleaning, sanitizing, and setting up of equipment and other tasks
Works with the sanitation manager to provide the team direction and training.
Ensure thatsanitation SSOPs are being followed.
Reviews systems to monitor effectiveness of SSOPs
Monitor cleaning chemical concentrations to ensure that they comply with specifications
Ensure adherence to all safety and sanitation rules and regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) monitor inventory of cleaning chemicals and supplies
Ensure sanitation team adhere to all requirements to maintain a safe workplace including wearing the necessary protective equipment (PPE)
Train employees to comply with SSOPs and to use chemicals correctly and safely
Maintain open communication and working relationships with all departments, including QA/QC, Production and Maintenance
Makes recommendations to Manager regarding improvements to Sanitation Department’s efficiency and/or effectiveness
Assist co-workers when necessary
Communicate issues and important information to the appropriate person immediately
Adhere to company policies and core values
Other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications
Experience with SSOP’s and HACCP
Ability to follow and develop procedures
Knowledge of sanitation, safety, and allergen requirements in a manufacturing environment
Ability to intermittently lift up to 50 lbs.
Handle chemicals in appropriate manner
Ability to climb a ladder or work from a scissor lift
Proficient in reading and understanding English
Basic computer skills
Leadership experience
Teamwork skills
Ability to work extended hours and weekends
Work Environment
While performing the duties of the job the employee will stand for an extended period of time, walk, bend, stoop, intermittently lift up to 50 lbs., use arms and hands at or above shoulder height, work atop a ladder, operate equipment and use the computer. The employee will work in a manufacturing environment with machine noise. Manufacturing area temperature varies from 50F to 100 F depending on the outside temperature. Employee will be working with numerous sanitizing chemicals. Occasionally work in refrigerator and freezer.
