Duties
Installation, assembly and disassembly as well as maintenance and repair and set up work, either alone or as a team member often working in harsh aquatic environments that represent a challenge for installing and removing temporary structures (wharves, docks); repair, maintenance and installation restoration of structures, equipment, machines, infrastructures, public utility systems, historic and contemporary lands and pathways with innovative or adapted methods that are specialized to the environment.

The Parks Canada team working at the National Park Reserve of the Archipelago Mingan includes 20 employees nearly 50 people in the summer. The fieldwork, exclusively on islands, requires travel which is provided by Parks Canada boat operators. Departures are from the marina of Havre-Saint-Pierre or Mingan.

EDUCATION :
- High school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience in a field related to the position*.
- Acceptable combination of education, training and experience:
A training in a field relevant to the position and a minimum of 2 years of work experience in the fields of the promotion.
Degree equivalency
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in one of the following fields: construction, carpentry, general building maintenance and grounds maintenance.

KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of security measures;
- Knowledge of the operation, maintenance and safe use of a variety of light and heavy equipment.
ABILITIES:

- Ability to solve operational problems.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
PERSONAL SUITABILITY / LEADERSHIP ATTRIBUTES :
- Takes responsibility;
- Good interpersonal relationships.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
- Work shift-work, and/or weekends, and provincial/territorial statutory holidays;
- Wear a Parks Canada uniform as per the uniform policy;
- Work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation including the possibility of sleeping overnight in the backcountry;
- Wear safety equipment;
- Ability to travel to work by own means.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :
- Obtain and maintain a Reliability status;
- Possession of a valid class 5 driver’s license;
- Being in good physical shape (daily walk about 3 km);
- Able to lift weights of up to 25 kilos, for prolonged periods;
- The applicant may be required to complete a personal health statement in accordance with the Isolated Posts Policy ;
- The candidate may be required to undergo and pass a pre-employment medical examination and regular medical examinations.
