This posting is to fill a vacancy at Pasadena High School as well as establish an Eligibility List. The current vacancy is full-time at 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 10 months per year.

Assist teachers and other certificated personnel in a variety of instructional and non-instructional activities, many of which require bilingual support; reads writes and converses in English and a designated second language. Performs clerical duties related to the support of school/program activities. Clerical duties may often require translation.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Positions in this class are established primarily to supplement the instructional program by performing selected instructional tasks and routine non-instructional activities in assignments with limited or non-English speaking students. Incumbents are required to translate in instructional situations, in parent conferences and to provide clerical support which includes translation of documents from English to a designated language.
Positions in this classification are distinguished from Clerk Typist and other classifications in the clerical series, by the essential duty of providing support in the classroom.

Education:
Graduation from high school or equivalent GED or demonstrated proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics skills up to or exceeding that required for local high school seniors pursuant to Education Code 51220(a) and (f).
Experience:
One year of recent paid or volunteer experience involving organized activities with children AND one year of clerical experience are required.
SPECIAL LICENSE OR LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write and converse in English and a designated language. A valid first aide/CPR certificate must be obtained during the probationary period.

APPOINTMENT
Employees who receive a regular appointment to the class must serve a probationary period of one hundred and thirty (130) days of paid service. During this period, an employee must demonstrate an overall satisfactory level of performance; failure to do so shall result in the employee’s termination without right of appeal to the Human Resources Department.
Pay is based on actual hours worked.
