Operations Management Internship – Summer 2023

Job Summary
I. Position Summary
Optimize the material flow throughout the plant through the use of data
analysis, time studies, ergonomic design, and 5S practices. During this
internship you will learn how to identify improvement opportunities and
estimate potential savings. Assist and support the Operations department
in successfully achieving manufacturing goals and contribute to
continuous improvement efforts. This position offers a variety of
opportunities including:
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform times studies to optimize operation routings and determine
improvement opportunities.
Update and correct ERP system.
Analyze and categorize parts based part usage, location, commonality,
size, and frequency.
Optimize the layout for efficiency based on analysis.
Utilize ergonomics and 5S practices to design and optimize work areas.
Collaborates with associates addressing concerns.
Assist in the direct activities of production management personnel.
Review, update, and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
Work with the Operations department to introduce, promote, and implement
lean manufacturing techniques to reduce cost and improve efficiency.
Assist in the continuous improvement techniques including Kaizen events
and 5S.
All other duties or projects as assigned.
Interns will typically support one or more operations professionals in
performance of assignments, spend time shadowing, and have unique
assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the
day-to-day workings of Operations.
III. Basic Qualifications
Student working towards a Bachelor’s degree in in Industrial or
Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain/Operations Management, Business or
related field.
Candidates must have completed their second year of studies.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
Knowledge of GD&T.
Must be a US Citizen or have legal US working status.
IV. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Data Analysis
CAD
Must have the ability to communicate with a number of individuals at
different management levels.
