Description
Manages Performance Engineers providing day to day support and leadership, while driving strategic best in class initiatives and improvements. Keeps on the pulse of industry standards, innovative solutions, and cutting-edge technology including automation. Within an agile environment ensures planning, creation, and execution of high-quality performance testing for Paychex applications prior to and post release. Acting as the team Product Owner, guarantees team delivers a consistent, quality product on performance results, and drives to root cause on performance related issues. Ability to partner and collaborate effectively with other teams as necessary to complete and status work.
Leads a team of remote Performance Engineers, through one on one meetings, reviews, collaboration, and other tools which supports the company goals. This is done by focusing on continually adopting and growing the scope of what is tested while finding improvements in automation processes and coverage.
Ability to manage aggressive timelines ensuring all aspects of the performance test cycle are met.
Ensure performance risks assessments are performed for critical areas to enable effective use of people and system resources.
Partners and collaborates with Architecture, Development, IT Operations, Release Engineering, Enterprise Support, Program and Product to drive the success of the Performance Engineering team and keep communication open with continual adjustments as needed.
Ability to have crucial conversations to gain alignment in high pressure situations.
Visibility and accountability to executive-level management. Must be comfortable speaking and presenting findings, issues, and ideas.
With the input from Sr Executive Leaders, define strategic vision for the performance team and support by driving and executing to that vision effectively and timely.
Leads team to keep best practices up to date and publicly accessible within the IT organization leveraging Splunk, AppDynamics, JIRA and Confluence.
Familiar with performance and automation tools (LoadRunner, JMeter, K6, Locust, etc)
Provides input to the budget process on operating expenses and capital planning including guidance on keeping or replacing performance test tools, vendor relations, and staffing needs.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineer, or Information Technology
4 years of experience in IT supervisory/management experience
7 years of experience in Performance or Capacity Planning experience
