Title: Product Manager, Academic Success
Job Description and Responsibilities:
As the Academic Success Product Manager, Classroom Solutions at Pearson, you will be a pivotal member of the Assessment Product team, responsible for overseeing the development and management of learning and assessment assets within Pearson’s classroom assessment suite and providing academic guidance for successful implementation of the suite as part of the formative assessment process within a balanced system of assessments. In this role, you will work closely with various functional groups, technology teams, and program managers to drive the lifecycle of classroom assessment product’s learning and assessment assets to meet the needs of learners and educators. You will possess a deep understanding and expertise in K-12 assessment and learning product development and will be accountable for realizing the product vision and theory of action with respect to the learning and assessment content assets and implementation approach, ensuring it aligns with stakeholder needs and contributes significantly to the execution of the School Assessment product strategy.
Responsibilities:
Market Evaluation: Assess the market landscape for classroom assessment content and instructional tools, identifying opportunities and potential areas for improvement.
Product Design and Development: Collaborate closely with the Sr Product Manager, Assessment Manager, Product Lead, other team members, and key stakeholders to design product features that enhance the effectiveness of classroom assessments and instructional resources to support and enhance student learning, ensuring successful delivery and utilization.
Product Efficacy Studies: Manage studies aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the assessments and instructional resources, ensuring alignment with the product’s theory of action.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate extensively with partners, vendors, and internal teams to ensure clear understanding and execution of learning and assessment content designs and development, addressing any identified gaps.
Product Roadmap: Contribute to the development of the overall product roadmap by leading the learning and assessment asset components of roadmap development.
Product Development Management: Oversee and contribute to the creation of product development schedules for learning and assessment content assets, proactively addressing any potential delivery risks.
Requirements Elicitation: Gather product requirements for learning and assessment content assets, establishing clear acceptance criteria to support all stages of the product life cycle.
Integration: Oversee the integration of learning and assessment content assets with the software solution, ensuring seamless functionality.
Evidence Collection: Collect evidence to validate the efficacy of the product’s learning and assessment content assets and specific features in improving learner outcomes.
Voice of the Customer: Systematically collect customer feedback and translate it into enhancements, advocating for the needs of students, educators, and families.
Business Cases: Support the creation of new business cases associated with the product, aligning them with the product’s value proposition.
Marketing Collateral: Collaborate with the Sr. Product Manager for the classroom system to ensure accurate and aligned product collateral and documentation related to learning and assessment content assets for marketing and sales.
Implementation Success: Develop tools that support implementation coherence with assessment theory, healthy formative assessment practices and learning cultures, and with district improvement plans, including the creation of curriculum-based toolkits that are repeatable and scalable. Develop materials specific to assessment content and learning assets to be utilized for training and deliver internal and external training using materials, as needed.
KPI Management: Collect and manage key performance indicators associated with the product’s learning and assessment content assets.
Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree is required .
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of product or project management experience, with at least 3 years of experience in developing K-12 academic assessments or instructional products.
Software Skills: Proficiency in project and product management software is preferred.
Skills and Abilities: Initiative, problem-solving skills, excellent communication, knowledge of K-12 assessment and learning landscape, ability to work with executive teams, attention to detail, flexibility, quick learning, team leadership, time management, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
In this role, you will be instrumental in driving the success of Pearson’s classroom assessment product, ensuring it meets the needs of stakeholders, aligns with educational objectives, and makes a meaningful impact on teaching and learning.
