Our team: Pearson Assessment Servicesprovide a comprehensive suite of services to accommodate the secure printing, packing, distribution, data capture and marking for our clients/projects throughout Australia and Internationally. Our highlight is our national assessment services is Pearson’s delivery of services for the NAPLAN program in various states and territories. We are responsible for the delivery of large-scale assessment and deliver both paper and online assessments to hundreds of thousands of students each year.

The role: As a SQL Developer – Data Management, you will be joining one of our cross-functional scrum teams and will play a key role in the development of our international projects. This role report into to our Assessment Manager, you will build, develop and implement product features from beginning to end and play a pivotal role in bringing our product vision to life by executing on deliverables across all aspects.

What you’ll do in this role

• Manage and maintain all aspects of data services including cleaning and preparing data for variable printing, importing data from scanning platforms into database structures, recoding, reconciling and exporting data according to specification.
• Import, manage and validate text-based data files with meticulous detail.
• Maintain the quality control of client data.
• Develop data manipulation processes using T-SQL and SQL Server.
• Develop and maintain a variety of reporting systems both internal and client facing using SQL Server reporting services.

To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have:

• At least 5 years commercial experience with Microsoft SQL Server Database Engine, SSIS, SSRS
• Solid knowledge of T-SQL
• Experience with SSMS, SSDT, offline database development
• Installing and configuring Database systems, patches and upgrades
• Database administration of SQL Servers including Performance Tuning, Backup/Recovery and Security
• Support of development, Test, and production database environments
• Exposure to c #.NET development is an added value
• Good communication skills both written and verbal
• Detail focused
• Must work well in a team
• Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline.
• Microsoft Certificate highly regarded.
