We seek an SQL Software Support person / Developer to join our Application Support and Development team, which specialises in supporting our customers and implementing solutions within our Springboard application.

The successful applicant will form part of our software support & development team who provide services to our customers through the support, development, implementation and problem analysis of our software solutions. Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review customer problems and challenges, dig through data, identify trends, find solutions and code them through to successful resolution.
• Software testing & development of our web based application, primarily focussed on the database, SQL and PL/SQL.
• Modify and troubleshoot applications.
• Support the application support team to enable faster problem resolution and drive customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with other teams and departments within PeopleScout.
• Creating software specification and training documents.

A typical day:

• Guide our Application Support team as problems arise.
• Recommend solutions to complex problems.
• Build and support new and existing Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures as part of our full-stack architectural framework.
• Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks.
• Develop SQL based reports for delivery to customers utilising enterprise BI platforms.
• Build XML and JSON based interfaces and RESTful services.
• Document troubleshooting guides for future use and train the existing support team.
• Create tools and methods for improving the efficiency and productivity of the team.
• Understand our existing application and troubleshoot complex problems as they arise.
• Work and collaborate with our agile team.

Here’s what we’d like you to have:

• Solid experience in relational databases, SQL and in developing Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures, with a strong understanding of database objects and structures.
• Experience working with data, identifying trends and patterns that can lead to problem identification and solution implementation.
• A genuine appetite for customer success and innovation.
• Strong understanding of database structures, identifying performance bottlenecks and introducing improvements.
• The ability to work independently, but also as part of a broader team.
• Strong analytical thinking and creative problem solving skills.

Oher desirable skills:

• Experience working in a web based environment.
• Experience building SQL based reports including trend analysis.
• Knowledge working with TOAD, SQL Developer or equivalent IDE.
• Understanding or experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JS and AJAX frameworks.
• Knowledge of Java development.
