Purpose:
The Warehouse Lead is responsible for the overall safety, productivity, and efficiency of their employees within their assigned area(s) during the assigned shift. The Warehouse Lead is expected to perform the functions of assigned area(s) as needed and to oversee employees and monitor workflow to ensure the effective use of people and equipment daily. The Warehouse Lead is responsible for ensuring compliance of company standards and policies in assigned area(s).
Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Communicate with Warehouse Supervisor and employees at the start of each shift and as needed throughout the shift.
Ensure that consistent practices are followed.
Provide instruction and motivation as needed to maintain morale and encourage teamwork, pride and quality performance within assigned area.
Check that appropriate supplies are ready at stations for start of shift. Monitor supplies throughout evening and direct replenishment efforts as needed to prevent work stoppage.
Ensure that all equipment is in proper working condition. Work with Warehouse Supervisor to contact appropriate vendors for prompt service when repair cannot be completed “in-house”.
Maintain safe work environment, reporting all accidents, incidents/near misses to Warehouse Supervisor and Manager in a timely manner.
Ensure that employees have received proper training. Work with Warehouse Supervisor and Training Manager to arrange for training as needed.
Monitor the security of assigned area.
Communicate with Warehouse Supervisor to report progress and reach completion of all assigned duties by end of shift.
Review and submit paperwork for assigned area.
In addition:
In Freezer / Cooler Area-perform duties related to quality assurance, selecting, stockers and equipment operators to include, but not limited to:
Conducts quality checks on packing and loading, offloading procedures, ensuring that proper cooling equipment is being used by operations.
Performs daily audits on completed work to ensure order accuracy as well as the proper building and staging of orders, pallet put away and replenishments.
Verifies that JIT items are at assigned temperatures, files all corresponding paperwork correctly, and notifies proper personnel if temperature is out of variance. When asked, looks to ensure that SOPs and all instructional plans are reviewed, updated, and followed every day, and provides feedback with necessary changes to documents when needed as well as conducting training.
Conducts observations on utilization of various product tubs, caskets, and pallets to ensure procedures are followed and retrains personnel as needed.
Conducts observations on employees within assigned area who are not meeting productivity standards, providing them with constructive feedback and continuing to mentor and coach as needed throughout the hardening period.
Works with other area leads to ensure a balanced and efficient workflow throughout the warehouse.
Reviews all errors with regards to order accuracy, replenishments, put away, RF inventory and building techniques with employees in assigned area.
In Bulk Area- perform duties of bulk equipment operators to include, but not limited to:
Performs daily audits on completed work to ensure order accuracy as well as the proper building and staging of orders.
Reviews all errors with regards to order accuracy, replenishments, put away, RF inventory and building techniques with employees in assigned area.
Conducts observations on employees within assigned area who are not meeting productivity standards, providing them with constructive feedback and continuing to mentor and coach as needed throughout the hardening period.
Works with other area leads to ensure a balanced and efficient workflow throughout the warehouse.
In Cigarette are- monitor duties of stampers, selectors, stockers, and equipment operators to include, but not limited to:
Performs daily audits on completed orders to ensure order accuracy and proper packing.
Monitors and ensures the workflow from the selection area through the various stamping areas.
Works with other area leads to ensure a balanced and efficient workflow throughout the warehouse
Reviews all errors with regards to order accuracy, replenishments, put away, RF inventory with employees in assigned area.
Conducts observations on employees within assigned area who are not meeting productivity standards, providing them with constructive feedback and continuing to mentor and coach as needed throughout the hardening period.
In Tower area- monitor duties of selectors, stockers, equipment operators to include, but not limited to:
Performs daily audits on completed orders to ensure order accuracy, replenishments, put away, RF inventory and proper packing.
Works with other area leads to ensure a balanced and efficient workflow throughout the warehouse.
Review all errors with regards to order accuracy with employees in assigned area
Conducts observations on employees within assigned area who are not meeting productivity standards, providing them with constructive feedback and continuing to mentor and coach as needed throughout the hardening period.
Monitors and ensures a smooth workflow from the selection areas to the Sorting area.
In Receiving area- monitor duties of receivers, stockers, equipment operators to include, but not limited to:
Performs daily audits on completed orders to ensure order accuracy in receiving inbound freight, receiving paperwork, offloading, put away, RF inventory, lumping and proper packing.
Works with other area leads to ensure a balanced and efficient workflow throughout the warehouse.
Review all errors with regards to order accuracy with employees in assigned area.
Conducts observations on employees within assigned area who are not meeting productivity standards, providing them with constructive feedback and continuing to mentor and coach as needed throughout the hardening period.
Monitors and ensures a smooth workflow from receiving to the other areas in the warehouse.

Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
1-2 years of warehouse and/or distribution environment
Must be able to work the scheduled / assigned times and required overtime for the position
Able to work in a multi-temperature environment (dry, cooler, freezer)
Must be able to stand, walk, reach and lift repeatedly throughout shift
Able to lift and stack product between 10-35 pounds and up to 80 pounds occasionally throughout shift
Pass pre-employment drug test
Basic computer skills to include MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
