We have multiple openings for nuclear operators. This is an IBEW Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E.
If you move forward in the process, you will have to come to the San Luis Obispo area up to three separate occasions at your own expenses to complete testing (week of 11/14/2022), interview (week of 12/12/2022), and take a physical exam before you start (TBD). We do not reimburse your expenses, and we do not pay for relocation. Passing the IST and POSS (EEI) exams mentioned in the Minimum Qualifications section does not guarantee an interview.

$48.17/hour
During the first 10 months, you will be participating in a learning environment that is both classroom and hands on which will include regular business as well as rotating shifts. The classroom setting includes lectures, quizzes, and exams.
After you pass the final exam and graduate from nuclear operator class, you will be assigned to a rotating crew. Every 5 weeks, your shifts will consist of rotating 12 hours days to 12 hour nights on a weekly basis which includes one week of 10-hour days for requalification training.
The nuclear operator position is an excellent entry level opportunity for hands-on experience in a nuclear operating environment. You will operate and monitor the turbine generator and reactor support systems.
