Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Role
Our Procurement and Contract Team is looking for a new Procurement Manager/Team Leader. This position is for a fixed term period of two years to provide cover while the permanent incumbent is on an external secondment.
Our Procurement Manager/Team Leader position has an operational, hands-on component as well as leading the team. You would have responsibility for approximately six direct reports.
The team is responsible for managing Pharmac’s annual Tender and various other procurement activities relating to medicines and medical devices. This is a real opportunity to be at the core of Pharmac’s procurement functions of purchasing and funding in the public health system.
The role would see you engaging and seeking advice from a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, clinical experts, and MBIE, and therefore requires excellent relationship management/negotiation skills as your engagement with medical suppliers will ensure value is optimised across the supplier base.
It is a largely autonomous role that allows you enough scope to truly manage and foster supplier relationships. Coupled with this you will be able to hone your leadership qualities managing a highly effective team.

Working across a diverse business we require a procurement all-rounder to lead a small team responsible for leading the procurement process and commercial strategies for community medicines, hospital medicines and feeding into a wider programme around medical devices to ensure optimum value for money is gained. This is very much a hands-on role and will require the successful person to be heavily involved in the procurement process.
Experience in leading people and manging a team will be key to succeeding in this role. The nature of the work is cyclical, so we are seeking organised individuals who have an analytical ability and problem-solving skills when presenting information to internal and external stakeholders in a timely way.
