Location: Tauranga, Auckland, or Hamilton

Your Role: Mercury is spearheading New Zealand’s sustainable future with an unyielding focus on renewable energy development. As our Project Developer – Renewables, you’ll play a critical role in advancing this vision. You will be responsible for the development of renewable generation projects (e.g. wind, grid-connected solar, and battery) up to the project execution stage. This includes:

• Identifying and developing renewable generation opportunities.
• Negotiating landowner agreements and establishing land access arrangements.
• Managing development projects to meet strategic objectives.
• Scoping and directing development work undertaken by engineering and environmental consultants including visual, ecology, transport, civil, electrical, and grid connection.
• Liaising with OEMs on technology options, layouts, and energy assessments
• Coordinating the process to secure consents, including stakeholder engagement and communications.
• Coordinating internal resources and maintaining relationships with external design, environmental consultants, and contractors.
• Implementing robust project plans, managing project budgets, and ensuring compliance with technical, commercial, and environmental objectives.

We’re Seeking:

• Minimum graduate-level degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Over 5 years of experience in renewable or energy infrastructure project development.
• Strong expertise in project management, including risk assessment, value optimisation, and financial management.
• Excellent relationship management skills and the ability to motivate cross-functional teams.
