Are you a specialist Teacher who has experience working with EBD and SEMH pupils? We are currently looking to recruit an experienced, qualified teacher to work in a highly regarded Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Islington. The Pupil Referral unit supports pupils with various behavioural and emotional needs.
The Role
This large PRU are looking to recruit an experienced primary class teacher to join the school to teach a class either in KS1 or KS2. Pupils will be accessing learning at various levels so the curriculum is taught according to the needs of the pupils. Class sizes vary and you will have a full team of support in the class to allow for emotional and behavioural support. You will need to have a good understanding of supporting children with SEMH and/behavioural needs.
You will need to be approachable and patient and be able to build a strong rapport with the students. You will be working closely with other staff and professionals to manage challenging emotional and social behaviour on a daily basis. Experience in similar settings is preferable, along with a calm and resilient approach.
The school are open to applications from teachers who have previously worked in Pupil Referral units and those who would like to use their skills and experience to move in to this area of education
The PRU
The PRU works with Key Stage 1 – Key Stage 4 pupils who have been permanently excluded from mainstream settings. The centre allows pupils to refocus on their learning and offers specialist support to allow individual development according to each pupil’s needs. Pupils have the chance to develop their skills in a place which fosters tolerance and confidence. The school is part of a small group of schools and as such all staff benefit from the shared learning and training throughout all sites to enable you to become an excellent SEMH practitioner. The school is easily accessible by bus and tube.
