EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
When assigned, all of the essential functions and tasks listed below must be accomplished effectively, are standard, and may not be inclusive of all functions and tasks that may be assigned. The court reserves the right to assign or reassign duties as required to achieve business and operational objectives. Essential functions and tasks may include, but are not limited to those listed below. Maintains various records, logs and files.Performs clerical duties such as filing, copying, typing, scanning, assembling, sorting, labeling, etc.Assists in processing, sorting and distributing mail.Answers telephones, routes calls, takes messages; greets and directs visitors; maintains schedules and makes appointments. This function is only performed when assigned to an administrative unit and is limited to addressing non-case related calls.Operates a computer, scanner, copier, and a variety of other office equipment.Collects, compiles, and verifies data for statistical studies and reports.Prints and organizes court forms.Assists the public in viewing court records.Provides support to one or more employees by participating in a variety of office/clerical duties.Judgment and Responsibility: Incumbents work under general supervision, with direct instruction to perform duties that are well-defined and in accordance with pre-established policies, procedures and standards. Duties emphasize standard or routine assignments performed with some independence. Incumbents must maintain confidentiality and must use sound judgment in performing assigned duties. Failure to complete assignments may result in delays and/or unnecessary expenditure of resources. Incumbents do not lead or supervise the work of other staff. Knowledge of: Modern office practices and proceduresBasic computer principles and applicationsFundamental principles of writing and grammar; correct English usage, spelling, and punctuationBasic mathematicsAlphabetical and numerical sequencingAbility to: Perform routine clerical workOperate standard office equipmentLearn applicable Court policies, procedures, regulations, and terminology and documents usedWork cooperatively and tactfully with those contacted in the course of workMaintain confidentialityCommunicate effectively, both verbally and in writingManage time effectively
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: No experience required; however, some general clerical experience that included customer service is desirable. Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. * Bi-lingual skills are not required but are desirable.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Physical Demands: Mobility to work in an office setting and move from one place to another place within a facility; manual dexterity to use computers and standard office equipment, and to manipulate both single sheets of paper and large document holders (binders, manuals, files, etc.); strength to lift and carry files or other objects weighing up to 25 pounds; physical ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time; vision which can be corrected to a level sufficient to read hand-written, typed and computer generated information and data, as well as computer terminal displays; hearing and speech ability sufficient to enable communication by telephone and in person. Working Conditions: Job duties are generally performed in an indoor office setting with environmental controls. Assigned work is performed in a standard court setting with open cubicles and/or offices. Assigned incumbents are expected to work alone or closely with others. Routine noises and noise levels occur within the work environment. This classification may be required to travel and/or work at other Placer Superior Court locations. Normal Court business hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
