Porters Ski Area Looking for Cafe Cook at Canterbury Full Time
Fulltime 35hrs
A full time role in the Cafe Kitchen. Working with the lead cook to create a smooth functioning kitchen at all times. The ability to run the kitchen shifts on the lead cooks days off. Demanding at times but with direct support from the Food and Beverage Manager. We’re looking for either a candidate with a background in busy kitchens, or a home cook that’s looking to gain some commercial experience.
Plenty of ride breaks so this job is great if you’re looking for that. A free seasons pass and in-industry discounts.
Assistance in management of the Kitchen side of the Cafe Menu.
- Assisting in all prep items
- Lead role cooking on lead cooks days off
- Stock management and rotation
- Assisting in order lists
- Assisting in prep lists at the end of each shift
- Aim to run a zero waste kitchen
- Constantly adhering to local Food Control Plan requirements and completing relevant paperwork
- A warm and friendly member of the Porters Ski Area Staff team
- Oversee all kitchen cleaning and maintenance rosters are completed to agreed level of compliance
- From time to time, you may be required to work shifts at Porters Lodge
A little about you:
- A hospitality background, experience in a busy kitchen or a catering kitchen
- A team player and great communicator
- A cool head under pressure
- Experience in ordering stock is an advantage
- Some baking experience
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Hold a current vaccine passport
- Have an interest in skiing or snowboarding
