Precipart is looking to hire a Director of Supply Chain to lead the team responsible for the entire life cycle of our products. This position is responsible for maintaining customer satisfaction by providing problem-solving resources and managing staff. As the Director of Supply Chain, you’ll manage the Supply Chain (SC) Capacity and Production and Planning Systems from origin to utilization. This involves securing all necessary raw materials and components for production and to coordinate efficient movement and flow of that material through the plant, scheduling plant production in a manner that satisfies plant efficiencies while meeting customer requirements – including final delivery to the customer.
Responsible for long term availability of materials from suppliers by ensuring the right material is available when required, while also maintaining inventory targets
Identify and implement Leading Edge Procurement strategies that reduce inventory costs and improve inventory availability
Participate in cost cutting activities
Identify supply chain risks and recommend mitigation strategies
Manage department key initiatives tied to Quality, inventory levels, delivery, and cost
Supervises key individuals within the Supply Chain department including materials management, demand management and logistics
Achieves customer service objectives by contributing customer service information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing actions plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying customer service trends; determining system improvements; implementing change
Determines customer service requirements by maintaining contact with customers/commercial; visiting operational environments; conducting surveys; forming focus groups; benchmarking best practices; analyzing information and applications
Improves customer service quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; establishing and communicating service metrics; monitoring and analyzing results; implementing changes
Meet plant inventory targets for raw materials, finished goods and WIP
Initiate, manage and support inventory, scheduling and their systems and processes to meet corporate targets
Identify and implement new approaches to procurement and production scheduling to ensure lead times meet or exceed market expectations
Ensure all production equipment is effectively scheduled and maintenance downtime adheres to maintenance programs
Negotiate with customer/commercial team on best fit/schedule for critical customer requirements
Monitor inventory as aged to contract
Monitor inventory values as forecasted from customers and/or long lead times for non-forecasted demand
Stay in constant contact with the commercial teams, global sourcing discussing opportunities, vendor issues, and or customer short lead time demands
Work with customers/ commercial team to minimize base/engraving investment
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for entering specifications and standards
Ensure that raw materials and other purchased items are obtained from suppliers at the best overall value and that material related cost saving objectives for the facility are met
Manage department budget process, ensure expenditures are within budget guidelines
Understand and develop transportation and outside warehousing strategy
Continually challenge current practices and implement innovative new ways of enhancing this department and its processes
Lead and conduct continuous improvement projects
Assist and make recommendations to finance and production in a periodical review of capacity requirements and constraints to alleviate shortfalls
Remain current on the role of Buyer/Scheduler and provide hands-on coverage when necessary
Responsible for conforming with the company’s quality management system requirements, as well as contributing to its overall effectiveness, and the ultimate goals of customer satisfaction, product compliance and ethical practices/behavior
Manage personnel needs identification, hiring & termination recommendations, leadership, coaching/training, performance management, task assignment, policy dissemination, disciplinary action/documentation to personnel files, job description updates, etc.
Establish department goals, plan & achieve department activities & objectives, analyze variances-initiate corrective actions, problem resolution, propose/support/implement new & improved approaches/methods, etc.
Requirements:
B.S. in Supply Chain Management preferred.
5+ years of experience in materials related field (purchasing, inventory management, logistics, scheduling) with strong emphasis on continuous improvement in leadership capacity
5+ years of experience in manufacturing environment preferred
Proficient skills of Supply Chain operations and planning process
Proficient skills with Supply Chain production and capacity planning applications and tools including ERP systems.
Extensive technical knowledge of materials logistics elements including management, purchasing, scheduling and material flow in a manufacturing environment
Prior experience with process improvement activities Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
Knowledge in ERP systems, such as Infor or SAP
