Senior Database Engineer – Cloud/Oracle/ETL
Washington, DC (Partial remote – 2 days on site)
US Citizenship required
Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and optimize complex PL/SQL, ETL and data migration packages between legacy Oracle database and cloud native data service example AWS RedShift or Snowflake or Azure Synapse.
Implement data ingestion routines both real time and batch using best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes by leveraging AWS technologies and big data tools.
Gather business and functional requirements and translate these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions with a flexible and adaptable data architecture.
Collaborate with engineers to help adopt best practices in data system creation, data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
Help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service modeling and production support for customers.
Technical SME for customer-facing project delivery for Cloud migration, Cloud modernization, data management, and data analytics projects aimed at Federal government.
Work with and through both functional and technical project team members to deliver products in an agile manner.
Provide thought leadership for innovative data solutions to address complex business problems.
Meet delivery needs that focus on cloud data migration, ingestion, transformation etc.
Work with junior data engineers / analysts in resolving complex technical and operational issues.
Other similar professional duties maybe assigned as needed.
Required Skills
5+ years of database development and troubleshooting skills and ability to work closely across multiple teams and vendors to ensure successful releases and enterprise scale data migration.
3+ years of experience designing, developing and managing enterprise-level databases using relational databases (Oracle)
3+ years of experience with ETL tools like AWS Glue /Azure Data Factory
1+ years of experience with at least one of the cloud native data services like AWS RedShift, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Data warehouse (Synapse).

Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Experience delivering solutions using Agile delivery practices
Solid understanding of CI/CD pipeline
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data analytics, business intelligence
Preferred Skills
Certifications in AWS, Microsoft Azure, Snowflake
5+ years hands-on cloud migration experience in AWS or Azure
3+ years of experience in assessing legacy on-prem workload and refactoring the workload to fit PaaS architecture.
