Job Description

The Senior Accountant will provide general accounting duties for both PLP-USA and Corporate activities including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and treasury accounting as well as assistance with the sales and use and other indirect tax filings. This role will also assist on special projects as needed including IT system upgrades and implementations.

Essential Functions:

• General ledger accounting for PLP-USA and Corporate inclusive of:

• Daily account activity review and general ledger posting
• Assistance with compilation of PLP-USA internal financial statements
• Preparation of monthly Intercompany AP/AR entries, including voucher loads, distribution and coding of invoices, and resolving differences
• Assist in the preparation of various accruals and accounting analyses including goods received, not invoiced and freight
• Monitor and maintain status of monthly financial statement close process
• Assist accounts payable supervisor to ensure all accounts are paid timely and invoices are matched to purchase orders.
• Assistance with Lease accounting for US and Subsidiaries including maintenance of lease software and database
• Performing account reconciliations and ensuring reconciliations are completed timely department-wide
• Liaise with plant management to obtain additional financial information and analysis
• Assist with general ledger integration with new acquisitions.
• Provide assistance to the payroll function as follows:

• Create and record hourly and salary payroll journal entries.
• Process, reconcile and balance payroll for weekly/bi-weekly pays.
• Analyze, create and record payroll accrual entries (wage, vacation, taxes and benefits).
• Reconcile various payroll accounts to source documents.
• Serve as back-up for payroll processing to facilitate vacations and holidays.
• Provide assistance to the Tax Manager for tracking, maintenance, filings and reconciliation of various state and local, sales and use and other indirect tax matters and assist with tax audit requests
• Provide assistance to the Assistant Treasurer, including but not limited to:

• Obtaining all bank statements during the monthly financial statement close process
• Secondary assistance for:

• Sending ACH and positive pay files
• Setting up and executing wire payments
• Request for check copies and check status
• Following up on voids
• Assistance with system upgrades and implementation including process testing and improvements
• Special projects and ad-hoc inquires and analysis as necessary

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree required; BS in Accounting or finance
• CPA is a plus, but not required
• 3 xe2x80x93 7 years of experience in general accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel (ability to run Vlookups, pivot tables, etc.)
• Very proficient in financial ERP applications
• Previous general ledger posting and financial software experience preferred.
• Outstanding presentation, reporting and communication skills

Travel Requirements:

• Limited travel (less than 10%) domestic to PLP Plants
