Job Description

Position Purpose: Under the supervision of the Organizational Communications Manager, the Social Media Specialist will support the strategic communications plan for social media to raise awareness of the Presbyterian Mission Agency (PMA) and its work.

Roles and Responsibilities (list in order of priority):

• This person updates and maintains the national PC(USA) social media channels daily.
• Creates and manages social media advertisements for national campaigns and events.
• Advises on the relevant social media practices (that are constantly changing in the industry) by researching and staying up to date with the latest social media and digital marketing trends.
• Develops and maintains a PC(USA) social media editorial calendar in collaboration with all 6 agencies of the Church.
• Analyzes social media performance and interpret analytics into an action plan.
• Implement the social media community guidelines as appropriate.
• Support the work of the Social Media Strategist.

Essential Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, public relations, communications or related field.
• Minimum 1 year-experience in social media strategy/digital communications.
• Demonstrated experience in social media strategy.
• Experience with native and third-party social media management and analytic platforms, such as Hootsuite or Sprout Social.
• Demonstrated experience in social media analytics and ability to generate reports for lay people.
• Knowledge of social media policies and terms of service for all major platforms (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills.
• Customer service skills, providing timely and professional monitoring/response to online comments.
• Familiarity or strong desire to learn about the Presbyterian Church, its ethos and polity.
• Available to work remotely, and independently when necessary.
• Requires the ability to work the occasional evening/weekend hours.

• Knowledge of social media best practices.

• Skilled at data analytics gathering and interpretation.

• Requires the ability to work occasional evening/weekend hours and to support events/programs.
• Requires the ability to see, hear, speak, type, write and move from one location to another while performing tasks.
