Progeny Systems is seeking an entry- or mid-level systems engineer to join a team responsible for developing SecDevOps software for the US Navy. Candidates will support the development and maintenance of systems engineering documentation and processes in support of the team. Successful candidates will possess a trained eye for detail, will be reliable, and be able to work effectively as part of a team.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Analyze current systems engineering documentation and processes, work with customers to determine needs.
· Work closely with small groups of developers to ensure implementation is in accordance with the requirements.
· Research, identify, and evaluate enterprise applications used to support the program.
· Derive and/or assist with generating System/Subsystem Level Requirements, Users Manual, Performance Specification (PSPEC), and Concept of Operations (CONOPS) documents.
· Write, review, and execute various test procedures including Performance Verification Test (PVT), System Level Test (SLT), etc. to ensure testing appropriately validates requirements.
· Evaluate system requirements and configuration for compliance with Authorization and Accreditation requirements.
· Support Authorization and Accreditation documentation creation and activities.
· Work with developers to write automated tests for various software components.
· Communicate project/program issues to Lead/Chief Engineer periodically.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Degree, work experience, or strong interest in cybersecurity.
Familiarity with topics including SecDevOps methodologies, Containerization, Kubernetes, Virtualization, TLS/SSL and AES encryption, auditing, certificate use, etc.
Awareness of cyber standards such as STIG, CIS-20, OWASP, NIST 800-53.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office: Microsoft Visio, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Understanding of networking, protocols, e.g., UDP, TCP/IP, ICMP, encryption, etc.
Demonstrable evidence of an analytical approach to problem solving is a must.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Basic Linux command-line knowledge.
Ability to read Ruby on Rails, Javascript, and Python source code helpful but not required.
Education/Experience
BS in one of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Cybersecurity Engineering, or a related field.
Cybersecurity minor or certification a plus.
Security Clearance
This position r equires the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.

• General ability to operate computer and other productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine, printer, etc.
• Ability to lift and transport up to 15 pounds at times
• Effectively communicate with others
• Ability to stay focused and provide attention to detail.
• Ability to think analytically and apply problem solving skills to scenarios throughout the course of the workday
