Job Responsibilities:

• The Buyer is responsible for purchasing product lines at the best possible price, tracking and maintaining product levels while cultivating relationships between the District Sales Representatives and Product Vendors.
• Maintaining inventory levels by reviewing items below minimum each morning
• Ordering and tracking product to ensure proper inventory levels and customers are consistently provided with quality products.
• Adjusting orders according to volume
• Obtaining the best possible pricing through negotiation and counter bids, notifying the Procurement Manager of any price changes.
• Investigating the cause of case average decrease whenever the decrease lasts for two weeks or more and any case average increases to determine the cause, i.e. new customer, distributor, etc.
• Ensuring proper rotation of perishable inventory items in order to eliminate discarded product due to exceeding expiration dates by notifying the Procurement Manager a minimum of two weeks prior to the products expiration
• Providing the Transportation Department of all pick-up information needed in a timely manner (i.e. Update P/U Calendar with Purchase Order #, Case counts, PO weight, pallet quantity, product temp etc.)
• Updating any price changes by Friday for Saturday updates to ensure proper pricing
• Creating accurate Purchase Orders to eliminate receiving errors and changing order dates in the system as needed. Responsible for checking the daily receiving to ensure correct pricing, overages, shortages, etc.
• Communicating with Procurement Manager regarding new item or special item requests and ensure Procurement Manager’s approval prior to ordering
• Ensuring all Vendor information is current and up to date
