Occupational Therapist – Acute Care – Providence St Vincent Medical Center – 1.0 FTE, Days
This position will work either 5 8-hour shifts or 4 10-hour shifts (depending on your preference!) and will also be required to work 3 weekend days per month.
$5,000 hiring bonus for eligible external hires that meet required qualifications and conditions for payment.
We are seeking an Occupational Therapist – Acute who will manage and provide skilled occupational therapy to patients/clients with a wide variety of diagnoses and disabilities, taking into account individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs. Requires skills in patient/client evaluation and treatment, as well as professional consultations to achieve maximum patient/client independence in accordance with individual’s functional level and potential.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Provide appropriate, timely and effective evaluation and re-evaluation of patients:
Evaluate patient/client current functional status and develops individualized/measurable treatment goals and establishes interventions as appropriate to patient’s age, condition, diagnosis, and response to treatment and learning needs
Incorporate patient and family as appropriate in goal setting
Re-evaluate and update goals in a timely manner
Plan and implement a comprehensive and individualized occupational therapy treatment plan:
Select safe and effective treatment procedures as appropriate for the patient/client age, condition and diagnosis
Modify and progress the program in response to changing patient/client needs
Instruct patient/client and caregivers to assist in achieving treatment goals
Terminate treatment as appropriate in relation to patient/client age, condition, diagnosis and functional performance / outcome expectations and discharge criteria
Communicate frequently and effectively in the professional environment with patients, caregivers and others:
Provide and maintains accurate, thorough, legible and timely patient related documentation, handwritten and/or computerized, in accordance with department policy and procedure
Communicate frequently and effectively with others involved in patient/client care regarding scheduling, treatment plans, progress and discharge planning
Provide non-patient related documentation accurately and in a timely manner to Clinical Supervisor / Manager /Lead
Maintain positive working relationships
Demonstrate professional behavior and pursues professional development:
Maintain and enhances personal expertise through appropriate professional educational experiences
Maintain required hospital and department competency in environment of care, age-related care, CPR and other required system trainings
Maintain a high standard of professional accountability with respect to appearance, demeanor, safety, ethical and legal issues
Provide a comfortable, orderly, clean, and safe work environment
Promote injury prevention: in-servicing employees, families/caregivers and community groups as appropriate, and identifying and reporting potential concerns
Keep informed of health care issues, changing department procedures, and other department information by attending staff/team meetings and/or reading staff meeting minutes, e-mails and newsletters
Enhance personal professional growth by establishing individual goals, providing in-services to others, participating in community activities, and contributing to program development
Participate in department/service goal setting, QI activities, and Mission Practicum activities
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to adjust daily schedule to meet service area demands and complete workload
Perform duties in compliance with departmental policies, procedures, timelines, and productivity standards
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Bachelor’s Degree/Master’s Degree/Ph.D from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program -OR- equivalent education/experience
Current Occupational Therapy licensure through the State of Oregon
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA – BLS) with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for Healthcare Professionals within 30 days of hire
