Seasonal Status
This is a seasonal opportunity with an anticipated season end date of October 15, 2022. Please note the actual status of the opportunity (Seasonal, Temp, Casual) will depend on the start date of the successful candidate.
About Our Opportunity

If you answered yes to the above questions, we have an exciting opportunity for you to explore as a Park Caretaker.
The Park Caretaker reports directly to the Area/District Supervisor or designate as specified. As the Park Caretaker, you are responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the designated Day Use Park(s) including: all infrastructure, vehicles, grounds and equipment.
Primary Accountabilities
You will also be responsible for:
Day to day staff direction, supervision, and training.
Ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and department policies.
Actively participating in the implementation of departmental OH&S Policy and Programs.
Providing visitor information.
Monitoring park activities for regulation compliance.
Advising visitors of park regulations and reporting non-compliance to conservation officers; and
Ensuring all water meets provincial drinking water standards.
Qualifications and Experience
This could be the right job for you if you have the following skills and experience:
Two (2) years of related experience, which can include:
Supervising and evaluating the work of others.
Valid NS Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent.
Valid (Standard) First Aid Certificate and WHMIS training.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and sanitation requirements.
Customer service training.
Training, experience in or demonstrated ability for ensuring compliance of Regulations in a public setting; and
Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Working Conditions
This position requires the ability to work as part of a team, as well as performing strenuous manual tasks in an outdoor environment. Duties often require working irregularly scheduled hours, weekends, evenings and holidays. Participation in department training related to the duties of this position is required.
Frequent work outside in all environmental conditions including heat, cold, wet, dry, fog, dust, bugs, wind, dark etc.

Salary Range: $1,542.79 – $1,581.67 Bi-Weekly
