The opportunity

Embed yourself into the business, in this commercially focused role of Finance Business Partner. Collaborating with a range of different leaders, you will have end to end accountability, developing your insight into the various facets of QBE portfolio; as well as giving you the chance to network with a broad range of teams across the board.

Reporting to the Manager of Finance Business Partnering, you will enjoy the space to work independently with the benefit of having a supportive leader who will mentor and coach you that best meets your specific needs.

Whilst the role is based in Auckland CBD, with a hybrid, flexible working environment you will have the opportunity to be part of a broader global business.

Your new role

As the Finance Business Partner, you will be supporting the NZ and Pacific business, and own the relationship with key senior stakeholders to provide support in making financially sound decisions based on best-practice advice and recommendations.

On a regular basis, this role will see you:

• Driving Financial Performance Reporting – flash, monthly management packs, cell reviews etc.
• Supporting budget and forecast process.
• Supporting financial management and planning, including business profitability, key ratios, balance sheet management and cash flow management.
• Collaborating with the broader divisional Finance Partnering team, as well as Group, on regular basis
• Developing a deep understanding of the business to provide relevant, informed advice supported by timely, accurate financial analysis and commentary.
• Presenting to the leadership team on financial matters to provide steer on business decision making based on risks and opportunities.
• Supporting various projects and initiatives requiring financial input and review on an ad hoc basis
• Simplifying ways of working and implementing automation to develop better insights into performance and trends.

About You

Being a small but impactful team, we are looking for a team player, who can collaborate and go beyond the remits of their role when required. You have a good understanding of the business fundamentals and sound technical accounting skills, whilst remaining curious and adaptable to change as the environment shifts.

You enjoy interpersonal and stakeholder management and can influence and negotiate a variety of stakeholders, providing advice that is backed by data and underpinned by commercial savviness.

Some of the technical skills we are looking for are experience with full P&L, developing business cases, preferably, exposure to profitability analysis and financial modelling. Insurance industry experience is desirable but not essential, as we’d be happy to coach the right candidate.
