Junior Engineer
QinetiQ is seeking a Junior Engineer to work as part of a small project team to upgrade our clients existing weather sensor calibration system capability, in order to reduce the level of manual control (i.e. better automation) and enable larger quantities of sensors to be calibrated per year, under various ambient conditions. The successful applicant will be provided with a myriad of experience that can be tailored during commencement to suit successful applicant’s skillset (where required and still within the bounds of calibration system design and delivery requirements).
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Utilising a mixture of mathematics, science and engineering techniques to design, produce, install and maintain a calibration system (i.e. a system that contains electronics, software, electrical, communications and mechanical subystems that have been integrated together to form a calibration capability).
Designing and managing equipment to control and monitor processes, systems and machinery that enable the calibration systems to operate
Contribution and Participation in design reviews and design workshops
Evaluation of existing Calibration Systems, and recommending design modifications to eliminate causes of error, or amendments/changes to existing system requirements
Executing Full Life Cycle Software Development
Programming well-designed, testable efficient code
Produce Specifications & determine operational feasibility
Integrate Software components into a fully functional software
Ensure software issues are identified, rectified and maintained.
Develop software/hardware verification plans and quality assurance procedures
Document and maintaining software/hardware functionality
Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems
Deploy engineered/developed system/programs and evaluate user feedback
Comply with project plans and industry standards
Drafting Systems Requirements and Specifications, drawing up designs for creation of subsystems/systems
Planning day to day engineering activities
Writing Technical Reports
Adhering to developments in technology and regulations (including Safety Regulations)

Engineering Degree (in either cases) can be one of the following:
a. Mechanical Engineering
b. Mechatronics Engineering
c. Electrical Engineering
d. Communications Engineering
e. Software Engineering
f. Electronics Engineering
