IMPORTANT: CHANGES TO AGENCY CANDIDATE SUBMISSIONS

Queensland Rail have recently switched to SuccessFactors for their recruitment software. In order to submit candidates to a contractor/contingent role, please follow the below instructions:

• Agencies will be required to record and maintain a list of “dummy” email addresses for their candidate submissions. This is because SuccessFactors can only use 1 email per submission. We understand the need for candidate privacy in relation to agencies and will not require your candidate’s personal information.

• Agencies will only be able to upload one document per candidate via the Agency Portal. Agencies will also be unable to complete the usual breakdown of fees. In order to obtain all the relevant information, please include a cover letter on the candidate application which includes:

  • Pay Rate (to the candidate)
  • Bill rate (excl of GST)

• Should your candidate be successful, upon Queensland Rail raising the Service Order a member of the Recruitment Team will request the candidates personal email address. This will be for the purposes of onboarding, site access etc. Please ensure this is provided to ensure this can be sent to them prior to their engagement commencing.

This engagement will be subject to the Government Preferred Supplier Panel (PSP) GGS0060 Temporary and Contracted Workers and is subject to the established terms and conditions applicable to the Panel contract.

Contracted Worker: Software and Systems Engineer (2 positions)

Contract Length: Up to 12 months (April 2022) with possibility of extension.

REQUIREMENTS:

Queensland Rail is seeking mid-level experienced candidates with development experience in control or engineering systems with an emphasis on procedural programming languages and an engineering background.

ROLE SUMMARY:

We are looking for 2 x experienced Software and Systems Engineer required for a key role in the delivery of Queensland Rail Major Projects. The work will involve adaptations to existing operational systems in support of the ETCS Inner City and Cross River Rail projects. This will be a role in the Real Time Information Systems team performing integration of a new Traffic Management System with the existing Universal Traffic Control system.
Responsibilities:

• Work with operators from various business groups to define/affirm requirements.
• Implement complex, distributed multi-system software changes
• When required, perform review of software changes
• Develop test plans and test specifications
• Perform testing, review and audits of test results
• Undertake other related work as required and directed by the Line Manager in relation to the Projects.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate procedural programming languages and an engineering background as well as:

• Practical knowledge of Windows development environments and tools.
• Experience in a multidisciplinary, complex and mission critical environment.
• High level of interpersonal and communication skills to negotiate practical, efficiency focused and sustainable outcomes.
• High level of conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices including writing and executing software unit tests and system test specifications.
• Knowledge of hardware elements including computer systems in real time Information Systems, interfaces, networking and telemetry equipment.

Experience in the following programming languages and technologies are preferred:

Must have a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Software Engineering or approved equivalent degree:
