We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer to join our Application Services team on a permanent full-time basis.

Our new Principal Software Engineer – Shared Services will leverage their extensive commercial experience as a technical leader to provide critical strategic technical leadership to the software development team. They will be responsible for driving innovative technology solutions, and uplifting the technical capability, standards, and quality across the RACQ Group.

Key responsibilities will include partnering within their immediate team, as well as partnering closely with a wide variety of stakeholder groups to influence the entire RACQ engineering community. This will include working hand-in-hand with other Application teams, Architecture, Security, and practices.

Your key duties will include:

• Provide technical training to teams and individuals when required, including taking on the role of technical mentor to team members.

• Provide technical leadership to a team of Developers, Testers, and Integration Analysts, whilst fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
• Hands-on development work, including providing technical expertise in troubleshooting complex production support issues.
• Continuously improve the CI/CD pipeline of RACQ’s various tech stacks, including driving automation to reduce cycle time and increase quality of software delivery (e.g., cloud environment provisioning, software configuration management, code deployment, unit tests, integration tests, and regression tests).
• Lead the implementation of intelligent monitoring and alerting of production systems, to proactively resolve production incidents
• Remain up to date on latest technologies and industry best practice, in order to educate the team and promote adoption of industry leading technical strategies.

About You

• 5-7 years commercial software development experience.
• Azure iPaaS (Integration Platform as a Service).
• Experience in C#/.Net Core programming.

• Proven experience in a Technical Leadership role, e.g., Tech Lead, Architect, etc.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring and coaching Developers.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to solve complex technical problems, demonstrating the ability to make informed, quick decisions where necessary.
• Self-starter who can work independently under own initiative.
• Experience with API and microservice development.
• Flexibility to work on unfamiliar tech stacks and quickly learn how they work.

• Demonstrated experience building CI/CD pipelines.
