About the post:
RCSI are seeking to appoint a General Operative to join our Estate and Support Services Department. The role will be based primarily in St. Stephen’s Green with travel to other RCSI locations as required. The successful candidate will be joining the RCSI Estate and Support Services Department, a busy team which is responsible for the ongoing management, maintenance and operation of RCSI’s physical infrastructure and associated services such as project management, energy management, sustainability, health and safety, security, cleaning and catering.
Specifically, the requirements of the post are:
Normal routine checks on the fabric (for example, doors, walls, ceilings, & floors) and of the building as per schedule
Planned & Reactive Fabric maintenance, including painting and decorating, door repairs, assembly and moving of office furniture, flooring repairs, ceiling repairs, wall repairs etc.
Planned & Reactive Building service maintenance such as drains, toilets, water services
Office moves, relocation and installation of furniture to offices
Adhoc / emergency repairs to building fabric as necessary
Adhoc / emergency repairs to furniture as necessary
Regular site inspections to determine areas / fabric that require attention
Ensure that your daily tasks are carried out in a safe and controlled manner, in line with the principles of ‘5S’.
Updating task status and job completion on RCSI’s CAFM task management system
Follow internal ‘Best Practice’ regime and encourage continuous improvements
Liaise with the Helpdesk team to ensure tasks are being completed in a timely manner, and regular updates are provides to our clients
Assist subcontractors to allow them to carry out their tasks, for example signing in, work permits and showing to area
Reporting of any items of concern to Estates Helpdesk
Liaising with department engineers and other support personnel to identify and solve problems
To be a self-performing individual and continuously strive for self-improvement.
Ensure any training deemed necessary by your line manager is completed within the agreed timeframe
To provide attendances and support to the RCSI Estates Department as required under the direction of the line manager or manager in charge.
To be willing to undertake programmes of training and development as may be required to perform the duties of the role.
Representing the best interests of RCSI at all times.
From time to time attendance will be required on site outside of normal hours, in the event of emergencies or to have cover at key events. As this is a salaried role time in lieu is provided for such occurrences.
The rostering of the role will typically include week on / week off of early start – early finish days (8.00am-4.00pm) and late start – late finish (10.00am – 6.00pm).
Person Specification Qualifications:
Formal qualification as a carpenter or similar tradesperson role desirable
Minimum 3 years relevant experience
Basic computer knowledge essential
Proven track record in Preventative and Reactive Maintenance in a similar environment
