About the job:
The Red Hat SAP Enhanced Support team is looking for an experienced, enterprise-level SAP Software Maintenance Engineer to join us. In this role, you will be critical to the success of Red Hat cloud technologies by serving as a technical expert on supporting solutions with SAP software running in public clouds. You will regularly collaborate with engineers and customer success colleagues from Red Hat, SAP, and our partners. You’ll help to support and create solutions that allow enterprise IT customers to more easily install SAP on the Red Hat Linux Platform (RHEL). Your work location will be flexible. Well-qualified home-based engineers will also be considered. Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do:
- Work with Red Hat partners and cloud providers to create joint solutions based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
- Test joint solutions with our partners and cloud providers preparing drafts for documentation
- Provide technical support to Red Hat enterprise customers by responding to incoming calls, chat, and web-based inquiries
- Partner closely with colleagues from Red Hat Sales team to assist their understanding of the company’s joint offerings with cloud providers
- Regularly communicate and collaborate with Red Hat engineers who are onsite at SAP in Germany
- Contribute internally to the Red Hat knowledge management system, share best practices with team members, and commit to internal projects and initiatives
- Troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues and manage issue escalation with Red Hat, cloud providers, partners, and customer teams
What you will bring:
- 3+ years of experience with Linux operating system installation, configuration, upgrade, and maintenance and a good understanding of Linux command line tools
- Practical experience with cloud providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google, and Alibaba Cloud
- Experience installing SAP products, including SAP HANA, SAP NetWeaver, S/4HANA, etc.
- Software development background, including experience writing patches and with scripting languages like Bash, Perl, or Python
- Troubleshooting and debugging skills; passion for problem-solving and investigation
- Ability to work with minimal supervision with a globally-distributed team of engineers
- Outstanding interpersonal communication and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with Red Hat’s product portfolio and subscription business model; experience with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform is a plus
- Familiarity with SAP solutions and software products and related industry offerings
- Language skills in English and German are a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, engineering, or computer science is a plus
