Company: Reed Hurst Trucking, Inc. (RHT), headquartered in Pocatello, ID, is a family-owned company with 30+ years in the transport business. An 80-truck carrier specializing in transport of cryogenic gases; RHT operates out of multiple terminal in the West. This customer focused company continues to expand with opportunities in existing and new market segments.
Job Summary: This job is located in Cortez, CO, and there is no remote work opportunity.
Reporting to RHT’s Operations Manager, the Cortez Location Manager is responsible for management and oversight of all aspects of the assigned location including safety, people, facility, equipment, process administration, budget, and participation in recruitment and selection. All location employees including Drivers, Mechanics and Administrative staff report directly to the Location Manager who will coordinate with the RHT management team including Financial, Safety, Operations/Dispatch/Maintenance, and HR regarding company plans, objectives, and priorities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
– Ensure drivers are prepared to meet their scheduled dispatch requirements. Provide safety training, skills-based driver coaching, and comprehensive oversight of performance and compliance. Work with Dispatch and Safety to ensure work is done safely and efficiently.
– Complete location system and documentation requirements such as data inputs, Driver personnel files, maintenance records, etc. as required. Support data collection and invoicing procedures performed by Pocatello administrative processes and staff.
– Monitor driver performance (including attitude, attendance, and skills); solicit feedback from Dispatch, Maintenance, Customers, and Management/staff; and coach or correct as appropriate. Prioritize customer satisfaction.
– Serve as a driver ‘advocate’ and sounding board for work/performance related issues and concerns. Develop recommendations and solutions.
– Maintain close awareness of driver and/or location compliance related items (ex: Hours of Service or environmental requirements) and Safety related issues (ex: fatigue awareness or clean-up protocols).
– Oversee the yard Maintenance Shop, ensuring vehicles are kept mechanically road ready and safe. Manage scheduling of mechanics with Maintenance and Dispatch to ensure optimal availability for drivers, vehicles, and location equipment. Engage on road maintenance calls and monitor response, as necessary.
– Develop and maintain strong customer relationships; seek out customer service improvement opportunities; collect input from Drivers and Dispatch; resolve or elevate issues appropriately.
– Participate in location audits and accident/incident investigations as directed. Stay up to date on situations, issues, concerns, and conditions that impact the location or its people.
– Manage any 3rd party carriers, vendors/suppliers, on-site facility/equipment maintenance requirements, or other location associated functions as necessary.
Qualifications / Work Experience:
– Minimum 5+ years of experience in Transport or logistics related roles with knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and HAZMAT requirements and regulations.
– Minimum 2 years of management/supervisory experience preferred.
– Familiarity with vehicle maintenance programs and protocols. Some understanding of tractor and trailer mechanicals (i.e., electrical, braking, steering, suspension, and pumping systems; hydraulics, diagnostics) preferred. Cryogenic familiarity a plus.
– Demonstrated strong computer proficiency.
– Familiarity with transport related software helpful.
– CDL Class A with HazMat endorsement a plus.
