RHR is seeking a Youth Navigator who is passionate about making an impact in the lives of young adults and a life-long learner. An ideal candidate will support a diverse case load and provide intensive services to out-of-school youth, 17-24 years, by helping them discover their potential of achieving vocational, academic, and career goals. The person in this role must uphold RHR’s mission statement. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide Tutoring, High School Equivalency / TASC, Work Experiences. Provide Career exploration, Labor Market Information, Occupational Skills Training and Workforce Preparation. Provide Leadership Development, Supportive Services, Mentoring, Counseling Services, and Follow-up Services. Provide and/or collaborate with our community partners to provide Financial Literacy Education, Entrepreneurial (Small Business) Skills Training. Assist with the preparation for Post-Secondary Education Services. Workshop and group facilitation. Conduct community outreach events and business partnerships. Recruit, retain, and maintain a caseload of 25 youth in active status. Participate in and contribute to team, employer and school meetings, present data and observations of youth progress and performance. Develop program capacity with other youth navigators across the city and county in monthly Youth Navigator meetings. Provide individualized needs assessment to participants. This includes referrals to treatment for drug and alcohol misuse, mental health counseling, and other partner programs, as needed. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in human services, counseling, social work, or psychology preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, employment, and life experience. A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with out-of-school youth. Strong communication skills both written and verbal. Demonstrated people skills (one-on-one and in outreach settings) Ability to relate to youth in a non-judgmental manner, gain the trust of youth, and provide a stable source of support for the young people. Cultural competence, sensitivity, and ability to collaborate with groups from various backgrounds, including immigrant or refugee populations as they acclimate to a new environment. Demonstrated proficiency in use of all Microsoft Office products. Knowledge and an ability to develop effective collaborative relationships. Excellent organizational, planning, and analytical skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES Fluency in a second language strongly preferred, but not required. Knowledge of workforce development and labor market trends preferred. Direct experience working in a collaborative structure and in partnership initiatives/projects preferred. Knowledge of community assessment process, community partnerships, mobilization, structural coordination, and systemic issues/barriers to development and self-sufficiency is preferred. Experience in strategic planning & execution, outcome measurements, program development and evaluation methods are preferred. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Valid Class D New York State Driver License and access to a reliable motor vehicle to meet (local) transportation requirements of position. Satisfactory completion of background screenings (criminal, probation, drug, statewide Central Register). Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30-4:30.
