Surveillance Data Coordinator

Region of Peel Public Health is currently involved in an Emergency Response for the COVID-19 pandemic. We are seeking motivated Data Coordinators to provide support to our team. Apply today if you have public health experience in the area of communicable diseases data input, are detail-oriented, skilled at data processing and management and work well with others to effectively contribute to tracking data for the reporting of up to date COVID-19 data to various stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the processing, distribution and tracking of all incoming communicable disease reports and the management of this data within the integrated Public Health Information System (iPHIS) database
- Routinely liaise with both internal and external contacts to educate and identify common surveillance issues and to ensure timely and accurate reporting of diseases
- Monitor and manage daily quality assurance measures and recommend effective solutions to ensure continuous improvement
- Utilize data management systems to ensure the consistent and timely handling of reports, data entry, manipulation and analysis, and report generation in order to provide routine reports of key indicators that reflect disease trends in Peel
- Provide confidential administrative support with a commitment to a high standard of service
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a related field with one to three years experience as a Data Coordinator or an equivalent combination of experience and education
- Extensive data entry and data management experience with large, complex multi-screen databases, including iPHIS and CRN
- Accurate data entry skills
- Commitment quality assurance and data quality standards, auditing and cleaning of data
- Advanced computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Access, and ability to manage detailed work with accuracy
- Proven experience in working in a public health environment, including knowledge of reportable communicable diseases and interpretation of laboratory results
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team and to deal with changing tasks and priorities

Location: Due to Covid-19, some of our offices are working at limited capacity to protect the health and safety of our employees, clients and community. As such, this position will be required to work remotely for an undetermined period. Once working onsite, you will report to 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga.
