Senior Manager – Community Engagement and Administration
About the Organisation:
The Resource Opportunities Centre is a community-based organisation dedicated to sustainability and community development through the delivery of diverse recreational, educational, cultural, social and technology-related opportunities. The ROC also operates the Prospect Road Community Centre.
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Resource Opportunities Centre Board of Directors, this position is responsible for stewarding the strategic vision of the organisation, human resources, and community engagement. The Senior Manager will operate the centre in collaboration with the Programs and Events Manager. The Senior Manager will focus on growth and financial security of the organisation and will also directly manage the child care team.
Responsibilities:
● Oversight of human resource management and adherence to HR best practices
● Overall strategic vision and realising the organisational mission
● Overall fiscal responsibility of the organisation
● Prepares annual budget in conjunction with staff
● Manages child care operations and staff
● Liaises with the community, ensuring community needs are met, takes leadership in new projects and initiatives
● Liaises with the board, provides updates, and attends meetings

● Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
● Ability to build and foster collaborative relationships with internal staff and externally, with community partners
● Excellent team building and group management skills
● Effective interpersonal skills, communication skills and presentation skills
● Well-developed decision making, analytical and problem solving skills
● Able to solve problems using a collaborative approach and foster team functioning
● Ability to effectively coach and mentor employees
● Able to work with minimal supervision and make independent decisions
● Successful screening through Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Record Check
● Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
● Proficient with Microsoft Suite of products
● Ability to manage budgets
● Grant writing considered an asset
● Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
● Post secondary education in the area of recreation would be an asset
● Three to five years management experience
● Childcare experience would be considered an asset
● Facility management would be considered an asset
Salary : to be determined based on qualifications
Benefits : Health and Dental
Hours of work : Monday to Friday, hours are flexible, occasional evenings and weekends, this position could be hired at four or five days per week
Term : This position is for a one year term, to be renewed based on funding
Work location : 2141 Prospect Rd, please note that this position is not remote
Start date : ASAP
