Metro areaPeriod of Performance: Base period of one year with three optional one-year extensions.Working Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Mon-Fri.Job Description:We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Software Developer & Test Engineer to provide technical support services for the Live-Scan system within the Forensic Services Division (FSD) of the United States Secret Service (USSS). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the existing Live-Scan system, ensuring its smooth operation, and contributing to the overall mission success of the USSS.Scope of Services:Provide technical support services for the Live-Scan system, including troubleshooting, patching, and upgrading.Manage hardware and software-related issues and perform necessary deployments and installations.Analyze existing requirements and prepare specifications for hardware acquisitions.Configure computer hardware and Live-Scan peripheral equipment.Train personnel in the proper use of Live-Scan software and hardware.Responsibilities:Software Development (Senior .NET Developer/Application Programmer Level III):Software Design: Design and architect software solutions for the Live-Scan system, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.Development: Write, maintain, and enhance software code, including frontend and backend components, adhering to best coding practices and standards.Debugging and Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve software-related issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to system operations.Research and Innovation: Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to propose and implement improvements and innovations in the Live-Scan system.Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional project teams and end users to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure software solutions align with user needs.Integration: Coordinate the integration of new software products and features into the existing Live-Scan system, ensuring seamless operation.Recommendations: Evaluate and recommend software packages, integration tools, and testing procedures to enhance system functionality and efficiency.Project Leadership: Lead and guide software development projects, mentor junior team members, and ensure project objectives are met within timelines.Documentation: Contribute to the development of comprehensive software user manuals and technical reports for reference and training purposes.Testing (Mid-Level Test Engineer):1. Test Planning: Collaborate with project stakeholders to analyze documented user requirements and design comprehensive test plans for the Live-Scan system. 2. Formal Testing: Conduct formal system testing activities, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing, to ensure the system meets specified requirements. 3. Risk Management: Participate in risk management assessments, identifying potential risks related to software and hardware components, and proposing mitigation strategies. 4. Standards Compliance: Ensure that testing processes and documentation adhere to industry standards, client requirements, and budget constraints. 5. Results Analysis: Analyze test results thoroughly, verify that testing conclusions and recommendations are well-supported, and provide clear and concise reports to project managers. 6. Communication: Maintain effective communication with project managers and stakeholders, keeping them informed of testing status, issues, and deviations from user requirements. 7. Quality Assurance: Support the OCIO QA Team in conducting quality assurance testing and Section 508 compliance testing for each planned release.Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, computer information systems, or related field (for Senior .NET Developer).Minimum of 3 years of experience with troubleshooting Tier 2 and Tier 3 hardware and software issues.Experience in closing service desk tickets promptly upon issue resolution.Proven track record of deploying and installing software on new and existing units.Ability to analyse existing requirements and prepare specifications for hardware acquisitions.Proficiency in configuring computer hardware and peripheral equipment.Strong written and oral communication skills.Preferred Qualifications:Five or more years of experience with troubleshooting Tier 2 and Tier 3 hardware and software issues.Experience in training personnel in the proper use of software and hardware.Familiarity with server patching processes.Relevant certifications in software development and testing.
