Fitter Turner – Mechanical Workshop

We are looking for a Mechanical Tradesperson with experience working as a Fitter Turner / Machinist to join our Mechanical Workshop at New Zealand’s Aluminium Smelter.
The Mechanical Workshop is primarily accountable for providing maintenance and repair work within the machine and fabrication shops to support the wider NZAS site. The Workshops currently has a team of 12 people including a Crew Leader, Repairable Spares Officer, Tradespeople and Apprentices.
Based at Tiwai near Invercargill, this is a great opportunity for a qualified Mechanical Tradesperson to join a collaborative team working 8am-4pm Monday to Friday with the option of a 9-day fortnight.

What you’ll bring
We are seeking a person with excellent communication skills and a relevant mechanical trade qualification, preferably as a qualified Fitter Turner / Machinist or equivalent.
We require successful candidates to possess a high degree of flexibility and strong problem solving skills to identify and conduct planned and unplanned repair and diagnostic work within production time constraints on a wide variety of equipment.
